Reorientation of the research and development with the objective to promote innovation in agriculture and agripreneurship needs to be accorded priority in these times for Indian agriculture. Focus is required to develop and promote those technologies that raise agricultural income, ensures employment opportunities, and sustainability of production and consumption systems. Sustainable growth and self sufficiency in food can only be achieved with significant technological interventions for increasing cropping intensity and yield enhancement as there is little possibility of area increase.
Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya , Raipur Chhattisgarh has been sanctioned R-ABI project by the Department of Agriculture, Cooperation & Farmer Welfare (DAC & FW), Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Govt. of India under the revamped scheme Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana – Remunerative Approaches for Agriculture and Allied Sector Rejuvenation (RKVY-RAFTAAR) Scheme to establish an agribusiness incubator (R-ABI) in the university for strengthening infrastructure to promote agripreneurship and agribusiness by providing financial support and nurturing the incubation ecosystem by tapping innovations and technologies for venture creation in agriculture and allied activities.
The University is well equipped with modern laboratories, infrastructure, equipment, technologies, scientific man power and conducive environment to promote agribusiness innovation and entrepreneurship through agri startups in Chhattisgarh.
